Mac run very well again. I spoke to Jim just before the race and he got it spot on. It's all about how he traps. He said the 2 would turn right and if Mac didn't trap in front he could be in trouble.
2 trapped out fast and turned right, Mac had to check and go inside and flew to the bend and got inside the 2 where he took a slight lead around the 2nd bend. His back straight pace was excellent and he went about 1-2 lengths up but the 2 caught him again at the wrong time for us, came inside him on 4th bend and pushed him out and stayed best. Mac kept on well considering and was only 1/2 length behind the 6 who finished fast. Trap 6 was running A2 a little while ago and I think Mac would have been 2nd but for the bump at the last bend.
Just one point, the 1 was withdrawn just before the race and this did help the 2 to have a clear run but it also helped Mac on the run up because if the 1 had run then Mac probably wouldn't have had the room at the first bend after not trapping that well. Also the track was running slow again, unbelieveable in June.

Thanks for the detailed report Col,i relayed the commentarys report via text but we all know sometimes they talk sh-te so cannot beat reading from someone actually watching.
It does sound that hes strengthening up and will be interesting to see what he would do if pinging the boxes and scooting clear now.

Thanks for the report on Mac last night, also to Dave for texting how the race went. It does create a lot more interest when there is somebody at the track and able to give a first hand account of the race.

Sounds like he needs a bit of luck and he will be winning, seems to be progressing well with Jim Reynolds. Nice report Colstar.

If you are there tomorrow Colin, could you give my old boy Spirograph a shout in the race before Mac's please.
It will be his 151st and final race at Romford before walking off into the sunset with his girlfriend Snorbans Lily, who retired three weeks ago.
They have been together since they were 5 weeks old, and will be going home with some friends of mine to spend the rest of their days together.

Keith
I'm sure everyone wishes your lad all the best both tomorrow and in his future as a couch pooch, this is exactly the type of people i wanted to see in our syndicate, people that really care deeply about the dogs and don't just think about their pockets, from were i'm sitting all the members i've spoken to have the welfare as number 1 priority which is very very refreshing..

Hi Kwame
I certainly will give your Spirograph a big cheer tomorrow, 151 races that's brilliant, lets hope he signs off with a great win and then enjoys a long and happy retirement.
What a coincidence though - I was in the Millennium Syndicate a few years back run by Mark Sutherland (another great doggie man like Dave) and one of the bitches was Druids Picture, of course, your Spirograph's dam. She was very fast but a bit of a bad kenneller. She was fine if racing early but lost her races in the kennel if she was in a late race. This knowledge was very helpful when having a bet!
Good luck tomorrow!!
Col

Cheers Col,
I owned 30% of Druids when she had Spiro (and his only sister, who unfortunately died at 5 weeks, hence the arrival of his girlfriend to keep him company).
I shared the second litter with Mark, and chose Bright Prospect to be mine (good pick), then bought Mark out for Druids and the third litter before he sold the lot to someone in Ireland. I kept Monas Vision (running A3 Romford), Monas Image (just retired from Peterborough), The Terminator (lovely dog, but lived up to his name by fighting), Monas Blue Girl (beautiful but wouldn't chase, and Pele (sadly pts after shattering a hock). All the litter were homed by the RGOA, but Monas Vision should have another year to race yet.
Druids Picture was in the process of being homed when it was noticed she had cancer of the spleen. It was advanced but not painful, so she was pts. Pity as she was a nice bitch and a very good mother.
I'm just hoping that the wet weather will slow the others down tonight so Spiro can use his trademark late swoop to nick it. Don't miss your last chance to see him drive the handlers mad at the pickup by stealing the teddy and running off with it. I bet he'll miss that bit most.
