Jimmy in Danger. Exciting when he’s on song Questhouse puppy club star Jimmy could be in danger of losing out in the popularity stakes to brother Joe if there are many more races from each of them like yesterdays. Joe having only his seventh outing looked the best dog in the race all the way round showing the kind of pace and acceleration that has made Jimmy so exciting to watch and finding 30 pips in the process. Jimmy, being squeezed for room going to the bend looking his only excuse, had seemingly decided that he couldn’t win anyway and gave a non performance albeit in a race that he had to find 4/5 metres to win. Although I didn’t think Jimmy was a !0/1 shot before the race the betting got it right because he ran like one but he should get his reward with a lowering in class. Joe on the other hand will probably go the other way, which always seems hard when they go up in class after they have lost. But be sure he has enough improvement in him to cope with it. For myself I did my cash in but thanks to a fellow syndicate member who kindly emailed me his best bets for the evening I finished up not so bad in the financial stakes and quite happy that the syndicate has yet another dog who can excite it like Jimmy can when he wants to. .

Jimmy back on song ? “He’s a trier today Derek” Shouts the attractive female clerk behind the counter in the betting shop as the unpredictable hero of the Questhouse puppy club struck the front on the large sis screen. Whatever it is that makes this son of Droopys Agassi decide how he runs his race it is nothing to do with his bottle nor do I think it is simply a matter of, if he doesn’t lead he doesn’t try. In his previous 2 races he must have made up his mind he wasn’t going to bother before he went in the boxes because I don’t think he tried a yard to the first bend although the faster times of those races did made him look even worse than it was as both races were run some 4//5 lengths faster than anything our lad had done previously. Even on his good days he hasn’t really trapped all that clever and because he doesn’t hit the lids he is usually crowded on his way to the first, as he was in this his latest race as yet again he was not one of the quickest to get out of the traps but he battled his way to the front again with a split of 5.02.making it16 of his races that he has led at some point. After which it seemed as though for the time being he felt he had done enough allowing the pack to come up to him before again running on well, to the line. Taking every thing into account a good and yes at 5/1 another exciting performance.

Jimmy just had to win
After a very impressive performance from brother Joe and yet another from his puppy club pal Mac nothing else but a win would suffice at Walthamstow on Saturday but things didn’t look good with the Racing post quoting him at 5/1 and the bookies endorsing that poor reflection of our Jimmy’s chances of emulating his brothers win.
Before the lids went up he had been further humiliated much to my pleasure with a quote of 7/1from Ladbrokes which I must admit nearly had me wondering whether I was right in my head for supporting him for this particular race.
The X-Factor out of the way the scene was set for Jimmy’s downfall from popularity in full glare of a roomful of watchers in front of our TV.
With the camera shot of the start on 854 at Walthamstow not the best for judging what has led as the lids go up, we all had to wait with baited breath till they were halfway up to the first bend to be certain he was in the lead but there he was for sure stretching out like something out of Chariots of Fire and I could swear you could hear Vangelis playing in the background as we further held our breathe for a moment till he cleared the bend well in front and on his way . Surely he couldn’t keep this up at 7/1 the pack was sure to pounce on him and even the commentator was casting doubt on his ability to keep the lead not once but three times as if it were inevitable it would happen and Jimmy appeared to hold his breathe momentarily as he seemed to realise he was too far in front, but there was to be no catching him today as he led them all on a merry dance round to the winning line.
To be fair there was nothing else in the race that had a clear run but that’s the game when you can lead up.
With over a Thousand hits on his pitch on the forum, Jimmy’s exploits have a lot of followers and for them there is more to come because when he appeared to hold his breathe, that was just Jimmy saving a bit for another day.
As a 7/1 winner he can afford to lose a few now but I have a feeling we wont have to wait that long for him to get and keep his head in front once more unless the grader also thought he was taking a breather and tries to find out once and for all just how good he is, something I think he has been trying to do for a while, hence the big prices.

Brilliant description Derek. I think we can put you down as Jimmy's biggest fan.
What a great effort from Jimmy and all the pups this weekend. Well done to everyone concerned at the coal face.

Richard..
For sure Dereks Jimmys biggest Fan and not knowing what hes going to do is what makes him appealing, just when you think hes losing the plot he pings out the boxes and sets sail for home, then its a "Pleaseeeeeeee Goddddddddd" as he struts his stuff off the last bend.
Was really really pleased for everyone as it seemed like forever since you had a winner and like the bloody buses,,you get 1 and along comes 2 more, shame Peggy decided for once in her life not to ping as i'm sure she'd have won if getting off to her normal start.
Hopefully onwards and upwards..

Jimmy slipped up ------but he’s learning.
Jimmy threw this race away that he could have and should have won pretty easily but he didn’t lose any track cred.in doing so. Not hitting the lids again cost him a clear run to the bend but he showed in battling his way to the front that he is as brave as the next dog now in his quest for the pole position.
Still misjudging the speed of the opposition once he has hit the front he allowed them to lead him again but he is learning fast and it wont be long before he gets it right and then he will stay just in front in all the races that he is fast enough to do so as I am positive he doesn’t want them to lead him at all
He is now getting back into gear quicker than he was in his earlier races in which he used to practically pull up and stop once he had hit the front which meant he allowed them to get too far in front of him to make it up by the time he got going again and it tended to make him look as if he was chucking it in.
The racing post priced him at 4/1 which I thought was generous but the track bookmakers opened him up at 5/2 which showed they are taking him more serious than they were because after all this was A4 and as I said earlier he could and should have won it but he’s come a fair way since he was beaten over 10 metres in his first A9.
Yes Jimmy’s learning.

Pretty hot heat, Jimmy got nudged out of the boxes, didnt affect his chances I dont think, was never going to win today for me, I had a text to back Pinta Magners so i was a winner all round, had a small wager on Jimmy at 7s just in case. Lots of trouble behind and Magners wasnt in any danger from the break.

Gary
Glad you picked up some winnings m8.
However Jimmy was a neck away from leading the corner,by this i mean if he had been a neck quicker from boxes or 4 was a neck slower he'd have definitely led the bend i.m.o,i'm not saying he would have won but Pintas is not quite as good if not on the bunny.
The thing that pleased me most about todays race was Jimmy coming off sound(I hope),for anyone not watching his race it is a miracle he was not on the floor at either the 1st bend or 2nd bend as 2 dogs went down and by some act of god he managed to run through it,thankfully the 2 stricken dogs completed the course and i hope they're okay in the morning, nothing worse than watching these fine creatures tumble to the floor.

I think there is enough difference of opinion on Jimmy’s last race without me adding mine although come to think of it I could also agree with both Dave and Gary, funny how everybody sees the same thing and yet sees it differently but can also see it anotherway and yet even, another way. I suppose it’s just down to us all seeing what we want to see. Lets see how he runs on Monday.

Why is Jimmy who is a middle runner boxed in six and the five dog who is a wide runner inside him, am I missing something or has the grader been asked to classify Jimmy as a wide runner
