I'm pleased to announce that Tessa or Jet as shes now known has been found a loving home, her new owner is Andy who has been invited to pop onto the site and hopefully give us some updated info on how shes doing through time, for the benefit of new members,Tessa was placed into the Puppy Club to give instant enjoyment whilst Jimmy,Mac and Lucy were growing up,unfortunately she was fought with 3 races on the trot at Wimbledon and although we moved her to Crayford and she trialled in lovely her confidence had been shattered by Wimbledon and after around 14-15 races we decided she was not enjoying herself and took the decision to retire her before she got hurt,we all know the dogs are all at risk when stepping onto a track but as long as they are enjoying it then its a risk we need to put up with,we will always endevour to do whats best for our dogs and all will see out their lives in homes unless injury says no. Heres Tessa(Bk bitch) with her new pal and owner. Thanks again Andy we all appreciate you giving Tessa(Jet)a loving home

That's really great news. I hope Andy manages to touch base soon and would love to see more photos of Tessa as she settles in and flourishes.

Guys, heres a reply i got from Andy and i thought you would all like to share in it.
Hi Dave, thank you for your email, and for forwarding the kind messages that you had received regarding Tessa (Jet). I'm sure you'll be pleased to inform them that she really has now settled in well. She is fully house trained, gets on well with other dogs, no longer steals food from the work surfaces or fridge when the door is opened or chew furniture :-) I absolutely love her, and so do all my friends. Two of them have threatened to dognap her because she is so sweet! She is very affectionate and loves her cuddles. She adores Ruthie (and vice versa) and they get on really well. Ruthie used to be absolutely hopeless at chasing and catching rabbits in the garden, but Jet's reflexes are ten times better and after showing Ruthie how it should be done they are now like a finely tuned pair of synchronized and deadly accurate missiles! I'm forever stepping over dead rabbits on the driveway and lawn. Not that i'm complaining They have been the bane of my life and flower beds for years! :-) Whenever i take them out for their walks Jet gets so excited and 'smiles' it reminds me of one of my dobermanns that used to do it, and it looks so comical. She also has a comical, dainty looking trot and whereas Ruthies ears are generally permanently erect when she's out Jets flap from left to right over her head like windscreen wipers which combined with her dainty trot looks even more comical. Thanks for pleasure of owning your lovely dog. She has added to my life. She seems to like her new home and i shall strive to make the rest of her life a very happy one. I shall send more pics over time. She is now starting to look really good. All the best, Andy

I agree, brilliant report from Andy and a big thank you for giving Tessa a loving home. I took Tessa for a walk when she was at Keston with Ellie and must agree with Andy that she is a lovely friendly bitch and it's good to know she is now having a great life. Well done Andy! Also well done to Dave for producing all these lovely dogs, I've been in contact with a lot of them at their time at the schooling track etc and can honestly say that there isn't one that you couldn't fall in love with. Well done Dave!

Heres a couple of e-mails from Andy that i'm sure you'll all enjoy as much as i did,i was virtually pissin myself with laughter and its obvious Tessa is being a devious little madam, really really nice to hear how all parties are enjoying themselves and just goes to show what a bit of T.L.C can achieve..Hope you Enjoy...
Hi Dave, sorry to bother you, but i need some advice. Ruthie, the madam, hates wearing muzzles (the plastic ones) and to date she has sabotaged three (including Tessa's- what intelligent dogs greyhounds are). So unfortunately both have to remain on their leads until i can find some more robust replacements. I have seen some on Jans greyhound and lurcher supplies which are metal but they don't look very secure to me. Are these the ones they use on the track, and are they more deceptively secure than they appear? Jet Corleone is a bit of a deadly assassin and no small moving creature is safe when she is around (she caught a crow the other day in the garden and it was like a scene out of the Hitchcock movie - we were mobbed by a gang of crows! so i want something that won't accidently slip off when she is out running in the woods and some poor yorkshire rat terrier comes a cropper! (Only joking, and don't worry because when i take her out in the early morning and late at night in the woods it is extremely rare to come across another dog). Not a day passes by where i don't love that dog just that little bit more. She is such a sweet dog. Just to give you a laugh, i bought a fake crow as part of a Hallowe'en yard haunt i do each year and put it on top of the book shelf. I had to move it because it annoyed the hell out of Tessa. She would lay down in front of the bookshelf intently staring up at it for ages waiting for the crow to move so that she could catch it! I also have two wooden seagulls in the bath room which she will sit intently watching for ages hoping for them to move so that she can assassinate them :-) She also make me laugh when she takes her fluffy Lion toy (roar roar) into the garden, chuck it around and beat it up a bit before tearing round the garden on her make-believe race track. All the best, Andy
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Hi Dave, thanks for your reply and tip regarding the muzzles. I shall get some of those metal ones and attach them as recommended. I've had to get some of the plastic ones in the meantime because i couldn't bear to look another day at Jet's poor disappointed face at not being allowed off her lead! I don't think in all the years i've owned dogs i've ever met one with so much expression :-) Our postman today fell head over heels in love with her.It was the first time he's seen her. Ruthie was doing her barking, wannabe Rottweiler act so i had her by the collar, and Jet trotted past us tail wagging, as she does, like fury, and 'smiling' whilst enjoying the fuss. I heard the postman say to her 'You are so lovely!' Very suprised when taking her out in the woods today though. Ruthie is an excellent watchdog, she barks at anyone who comes near the house or front door (Jet is good too, she just watches Ruthie barking :-) The other night we were in the woods at midnight and a group of teenagers were having a campfire. One of them happened to stagger out of the bushes drunk and Ruthie being protective of me, barked at him. Where was Jet, the party animal? Down at the campfire lapping up the attention! Anyhow, as said we were in the woods today and a jogger suddenly appeared from out of the bushes. Who gave the warning bark this time? Jet! I was so suprised, and of course, gave her lots of praise. That was one thing i was always taught with Dobermanns. Don't teach them to be aggressive. Give them lots of love and they will naturally protect you. Obviously the same principle has applied to Jet. I had a look at, and enjoyed reading your website today. What beautiful Kennels. Immaculate. They are a credit to you. Pity you're in the minority. I also enjoyed reading about the dogs and aspirations for future champions. Well, if you discover a black bitch with potential, be sure to call her 'Flo-Jo' after the black Olympic runner who was/is the fastest woman in the world. A bit tongue in cheek i know, but for those who remember that name, it's bound to strike the fear of God into their hearts on the race track!:-) and if she lives up to her name sake, she will be a champion which will leave her competitors standing! Questhouse Flo-Jo? I think it has quite a nice ring to it :-) All the best Dave, Sorry you have to hear me rambling on but i'm sure you'll understand i'm just so thrilled to have Jet and i like to keep you in touch with her new life. Thanks for your help and advice, Andy

Updated e-mail from Andy on how Tessa is terrorising the neighbourhood.lol.........
Hello daddy Dave, Tessa here. Sorry i haven't been in touch for a while, but i have been busy settling down into my new home. I've got over my insecurities now, and i have become a good girl and don't do naughty things no more. I have learnt that i can get far more attention just by using my cuteness and charms (e.g. my 'smile' melts those suckers hearts every time! :-) My step-sister Ruthie and i have come up with a game that is great fun. We hold running races against each other up and down the hallway at five 0' clock in the morning!! :-) Then we go into the bedroom and frantically beat our tails on the wall beside the bed to make loads of noise (and i give my smile) until one of the lazy buggers can be bothered to get up and let us out. First thing in the morning is so exciting Daddy Dave. There is lots of rabbits around in the garden. we often hear Daddy Andy bemoaning the fact that we nearly took the terrace door off as we tear across the garden to catch one of those nasty furry things that Daddy Andy calls 'Vermin', but he quickly forgives us when we assassinate one of the blighters! I have caught loads of them. Ruthie caught one the other day but she wouldn't share it with me, greedy madam. The food here is Cordon Bleu. Daddy Andy is a frustrated snob because there is a dog show in Harlow at the end of the month that he wants to enter us in. He gives me two brushes a day and lots of kennel coat comes out but i still don't (to date) turn out jet black. I'm still a mixture of black and chocolate brown? Oh well, guess i'll have to endure a load more brushings! and having my ears cleaned out and teeth brushed! I will always love you Daddy Dave for having the good heart to put me into a re-homing kennel. It was hard initially but i really am grateful now because i feel i have fell on my feet. I'm so loved and spoilt wicked. Love you lots, hope to be able to see you again one day, Tessa (aka Jet) xxxxx

Recent Mail from Andy about Tessa.......... Hi Dave. Hope you're all keeping ok? Sorry i haven't been in touch for a while. Jetty is fine. She is such a sweet little girl. I love her more each day. We took her on a greyhound walk the other day (eleven greyhounds in total), it was great. We let some of them off in an enclosed field. However, Jetty would only stand on the outskirts. I reckon it was from her racing days and being attacked. Poor little babe. And she loves to run generally. She is always race tracking round the garden with her sister Ruthie when she's at home. Hopefully a few more of these walks and she will get her confidence back. One of the dogs ran towards her to play and she ran off into the woods. I found her peeping out from a bush waiting for dad to rescue her. Strange, because she is a feisty little girl and usually like to provoke a good scrap She tried to start one with a German Shepherd on the walk. The other week it was a Rottie! She has no fear Just other greyhounds it seems. She was fine walking with them and got on well. It was just when they were let off the leads. Perhaps she felt vulnerable? Anyhow, that's enough of me wamping on. Had any good wins? How's that little bitch that broke her hock? How's Jetty's sister doing? All the best, Andy p.s. Jetty caught a partridge the other week. Dived under the hedge and came out with it. I reckon she thinks she's a gun dog. Birds seem to be her speciality
